JOB TITLE:

Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Instructional Professor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wyoming seeks outstanding applicants for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Instructional Professor appointment, starting August 2023. This is a full-time, 9-month benefitted position at the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie, WY. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching commensurate with experience, and enthusiasm to teach undergraduate students effectively. This position is open to applications from candidates with all mechanical engineering teaching focus areas. Candidates with manufacturing-related expertise and teaching interests are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with interest in engineering education research and scholarship are also particularly encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the position include:

• Teaching undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science
• Professional development, including participation in state and national professional organizations
• Service to the department and university, including advising student groups

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering field
• Teaching experience at the college level, and demonstrated commitment to effective teaching

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated teaching excellence and use of innovative teaching methods
• Demonstrated interest in scholarship of teaching and learning, and research interest in undergraduate engineering education
• Interest in teaching senior design capstone and manufacturing-related courses
• Professional experience in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering field
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
• Familiarity with software tools such as MATLAB and SolidWorks
