JOB TITLE:

Post Doctoral Research Associate

JOB PURPOSE:

Postdoctoral Associates are temporary fixed term faculty dedicated to the pursuit of greater professional expertise after the attainment of the doctoral degree. This category recognizes that doctoral recipients in some disciplines may require intensive advanced work in a particular discipline before seeking permanent employment. Postdoctoral Associates are not eligible for extended-term appointments. It is characteristic of Postdoctoral Associates to work with a small set of faculty mentors who are responsible for directing the employee's research and training. The temporary nature of internships, the precariousness of grant funding, and the desire of many Postdoctoral Associates to acquire permanent employment early in their careers call for a specific set of governing regulations for this category of employee.

As a postdoctoral candidate in our transdermal drug delivery lab, your primary purpose will be to conduct research aimed at advancing the development of novel transdermal drug delivery systems. You will play a crucial role in formulating, optimizing, and characterizing transdermal/topical formulations, with the ultimate goal of improving drug delivery efficiency, patient compliance, and therapeutic outcomes. Through your research efforts, you will be addressing key challenges in drug delivery such as enhancing drug absorption, controlling drug release kinetics, and ensuring skin compatibility.

You will also have the chance to disseminate your findings through scientific publications, presentations, and participation in grant writing activities. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to transdermal drug delivery research and make a meaningful impact on the development of drug delivery systems with potential clinical significance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting research, analyzing data, and designing experiments independently
  • Prepare experimental design and optimization of formulation.
  • Writing projects and scholarly publications
  • Maintaining and managing the laboratory
  • Ensuring safety compliance and providing training
  • Keeping inventory and managing the lab

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct literature reviews to stay updated on transdermal drug delivery advancements.

  1. Develop experimental protocols and standard operating procedures for transdermal drug delivery systems research.
  2. Operate and maintain lab equipment for formulation characterization.
  3. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals/ funding applications to secure financial support for ongoing and future research projects in the lab.
  4. Provide mentorship and training to students.
  5. Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects related to drug delivery.
  6. Ensure regulatory compliance for research involving human or animal subjects.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Doctoral Degree is required for this position, however, consideration will be given to applicants that are currently pursuing their Doctoral Degree and will complete the degree prior to starting work.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with formulation development for transdermal or topical formulations.
  • Experience with analysis of these formulations for their, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics properties and pharmacological activity.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as analysis, and characterization of topical/transdermal formulations
  • Experience in nanoparticles will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in QBD software for formulations will be an added advantage.
